A CLASSIC VINTAGE HUNGARIAN BREAKFAST DISH.. BUNDAS KENJYER.

Good Afternoon all you food lovers out there!…. I would love to share a scrumptious old Hungarian favourite recipe with you all.. Yes, there are similar recipes out there, however this is one traditional  vintage breakfast recipe which tastes moorish anytime of the year….. Bundas Kenyer….

This is how you make it great…

Select your favourite sliced bread.. My preference is thick slice English Loaf, however you might like something thinner… I find Fresh White Bread is the best for this recipe as it soaks up the egg mixture nicely….

Use anywhere between four to six eggs… Beat the eggs up in a bowl with a whisk. I don’t use a whisk as I find a table fork does the trick niceley…Once the eggs are beaten, slowly add a generous amount of smoky paprika powder  to the beaten eggs,so that the paprika powder does not bulk up and bind. Continue to whisk whilst adding  sea salt to the mix. One teaspoon should be enough.

Put mixture aside for later….. Source a flat large frypan of your choice, add olive oil,and get temperature Nice and hot, but not overhot..

Next soak your individual slices of bread into egg mix pressing down firmly on the face of bread with a plastic flip. Press bread slice several times into the egg mixture as you would with a sponge… Here we use Bread, and not a sponge…. The sponging action of the bread serves to soak up the mix beautifully..

Repeat this process adding more slices of bread as you go, until no more mixture remains.. Carefully lift egg soaked bread slice into hot frypan and watch slices simmer.. Continually flip slice repeatedly, until outside of bread resembles a copper brown look..

Try not to over cook, as result will taste too dry. What we are trying to achieve here is a slightly crisp toasty look on the outside, yet fluffy yellow and semi moist on the inside…

Serves Two to Three People, and tastes great!…..

INGREDIENTS;

1/ Sliced White Bread. 2/ Number of 4 to 6 eggs, 3/ Smoky Paprika Powder. 4/Extra virgin olive oil, Sea Salt.. and your done😍…….
