G,day from downunder, and trust everyone stays safe over Christmas……
With the onset of Summer brings new challenges in the land of OZ, Blowflys,Mosquitos,Brown Snakes,Tiger Snakes…and the list goes on.
Today, we are going to consider another challenge;.. Selecting Top Tackle to Target Trout.
When Trout are feeding shallow to mid water conditions, and lots of weed is present, it is always good to modify ones tactics.
My preference is to use 4 to 6 pound line, a number 04 or 06 size hook, and a light weight rod.
Try to set a long run of leader coupled to 04 or 06 hook on one end, small swivel, and running ballsinker above swivel NOT TO HEAVY….
As Trout are an educated fish, not that they went to Marine University, tells us that they can detect anything unusual, so the trick here is to use lightweight tackle so that it cannot be seen by the trout….
Larger length leader will keep tackle free of weeds thus improving catch rates.
Please write back to share you thoughts……
